Hospital Policies

At Mills Animal Hospital Marietta, we are committed to delivering compassionate care through clear communication with our clients. Please take a moment to familiarize yourself with the following policies.

Scheduling Appointments

We recommend scheduling an appointment to ensure we can see your pet in a timely manner. While we always prioritize emergencies, additional fees may apply for urgent visits.

  • Appointment Length: Standard appointments last 30 minutes. We suggest allowing extra time in case your pet needs additional care. If your situation changes, please inform us as soon as possible.
  • Deposit Requirements: A deposit is required for the following:
    • Surgical procedures
    • Imaging appointments, including echocardiograms and ultrasounds
    • Multi-pet appointments (for three or more pets)
  • The deposit will be applied toward the cost of the procedure.

Rescheduling and Cancellations

  • Appointments: We require at least 24 hours' notice for rescheduling or cancellations. Less than 24 hours' notice will incur a cancellation fee.
  • Surgeries: Cancellations or rescheduling of surgeries require 48 hours' notice. Failure to provide notice will result in a cancellation fee and forfeiture of your deposit.

Late Arrivals and No-Show Policy

  • If you arrive more than 10 minutes late, your appointment may be considered a "no-show," and a cancellation fee will apply. Repeated no-shows may require a deposit for future appointments.
  • If you anticipate being late, please contact us as soon as possible. Depending on the veterinarian’s schedule, we may be able to work you back into our day. A work-in fee may apply.

Emergency, Walk-In, and Work-In Appointments

We understand that emergencies can happen at any time, and we will do our best to accommodate urgent situations. An emergency fee applies. Please call ahead whenever possible so we can be prepared for your arrival.

  • Work-In Appointments: For non-urgent cases, same-day or drop-off appointments are available for a work-in fee. Please note that evaluations may take at least two hours.

For after-hours emergencies, we will stabilize your pet and refer you to a nearby emergency clinic if further care is needed.

Veterinarian-Client-Patient Relationship (VCPR)

To prescribe medication or treatment, Georgia law requires an active VCPR, which must include an annual exam by one of our veterinarians. This policy ensures that we can provide the best care for your pet.

Rabies Vaccination Policy

For the safety of our clients, pets, and staff, all animals must be up to date on their rabies vaccination, as required by Georgia law. No exceptions will be made.
